VOC's

  • VOCs - Volatile organic compounds are organic chemicals that have a high vapor pressure and easily form vapors at normal temperature and pressure. Volatile - easily evaporate, and organic - contain carbon. It's a smell of a freshly cut orange; it's an odor of mold... Some VOCs do not cause health problems, but others are serious indoor air pollutants. VOC's released into the atmosphere produce ground level ozone.
  • VOCs are emitted, from many manufactured products. There is a word outgassing that refers to these emissions of gasses.
  • Materials Safety and Data Sheets (MSDS) is a document that contains information on the potential hazards (health, fire, reactivity and environmental) and how to safely work with, store, dispose of the chemical product. MSDSs are prepared by the supplier or manufacturer of the material.
